Sun and Sand, with the best pizza!!
Entered by Kelly on August 29, 2008

We spent a great day just hanging out..It was sunny and humid but not so hot you couldn't enjoy the beach, and that is just what we did. We spent a good part of the morning and early afternoon just laying around on the beach, reading a book and enjoying the sounds of surf. After cleaning up we headed out to Harkers Island to see if I could get some good shots of our lighthouse. We call the lighthouse "ours" as it was the first one we ever visited. The clouds and humidity were very heavy so the shots we very hard to get but I did get this one, which I then had to edit in LR with limited presets and such available since all those are on my desktop.

After leaving Harkers Island we headed to Michelangelo's for the pizza I wait alll year for.. It is so good. I wish I knew their secret, the crust is always perfect and the sauce..yummy.. not too sweet, not too spicy.. Then of course it wouldn't be a trip to AB with a stop at the Sweet Shop for our yearly ice cream visit. It's not that they have the best ice cream in the world (although it is pretty awesome) but they have awesome service, down to earth, always friendly and totally focused on making the customer happy. For that reason alone, we love to visit. All in all, it was a great relaxing day with no cares or worries, just like vacation should be.

At The Beach

ahhh what a great way to wake up, with the sounds of the ocean waves out your window.. Alas that is not how I woke up. I awoke to the loudest thunder I think I have ever heard and it was pouring but within 2 hours it was all cleared up and super humid but sunny. We decided since there was a 60% chance of rain throughout the day we would go explore so after a walk on the beach we headed down to Beauford and poked in all the shops. Starving by noon, we headed to a Ruby Tuesdays since we really wanted a salad bar. As always, it hit the spot. Leaving I asked John to swing by the new Best Buy that was just built here to just see if they had the Wii in stock and they DID and they had the Wii Fit also, so I snagged them both. Can't understand why John won't let us go home now to set it up hehehe. I've been looking for months for both so it was a double win.

Afternoon showers led to a nice nap and then I hit the beach with camera in hand. I got some great shots of some local kids surfing (see below) and the regular beach shots as well which I will get up on my flick'r site shortly.

We have ended the evening just hanging out, snacking and relaxing. Tomorrow will definiately be a beach day.

BTW, just 43 days till we Cruise

Take care, miss everyone.
